Crystal Cleansing

Crystals are Mother Nature’s gifts. They carry natural energy to attune and align the body. When applied therapeutically, crystals help release unwanted energies from the body and aura. These unwanted energies collect on the crystals' energy field that surrounds them. It is therefore important to cleanse your crystals frequently to remove any negative or stagnant energies. Before cleansing your crystal, always hold the intention that all negativity will be “washed or drained away” and the crystal be reenergized.

 

The most common way to cleanse your crystal is to hold it under running water. During this process, rub your crystal gently and reaffirm that all negative energies will be washed away. The motion of the running water helps to remove unwanted energies that your healing crystals may have picked up during therapeutic use, or while helping to keep the energy in a room uplifted and clear. However, some crystals like Selinite, Malachite, Peridot and Calcite are not suitable to use this method.

Once the crystals are physically cleansed, you can also clear their energy fields using a gem formula energy clearing spray like the Citrine Elixir Atomizer Spray. This will eliminate unwanted energies that the energy field may have picked up.

Sea salt is another effective way to cleanse your crystal. Pour the sea salt in a dish and place your crystals on top of the salt, remember to wipe your crystal with a damp cloth after that.

Most people recommend sunlight cleansing as the sun is indispensable and has very strong energy. However, do not leave your crystals under the Sun for too long as it will “drain” your crystals instead. Some crystals, like Amethyst, Rose Quartz and Smoky Quartz will become faded when left under the sun for too long. It is recommended to place your crystals under the sun for not more than 2 or 3 hrs.

The Native Americans use smudging as a way to clear and cleanse many things including crystals. You can use wild harvested sage smudge sticks or sage incense to smudge your crystals. Simply pass the crystals through your smudging stick or smoke from the incense to clear all the negative energies.

There are some crystals that are self cleansing, namely Citrine. Thus, you can also place your crystals in a Citrine Geode or on a basket of Citrine for 24 hours. In this way, the Citrine will cleanse the crystals of unwanted energies. Some people find that their crystals look brilliant after using Citrine for cleansing.

Last but not least, you can Reiki your crystals and remove any negative energies from them. Sit in a quite room. Focus on your crystals and start your Reiki session. It is also good to affirm that all negatives energies will be removed. After that, you can start using your crystals again.
