The Power of Colour

Credit: Google Image

Every substance on earth contains colour and every colour has a different impact on us. The rays from the sun contain seven different colours - violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. These are natural colours which are highly beneficial to the maintenance of health and for healing diseases.

The colour wheel describes the relationship between colours. Primary Colours (red, yellow, and blue) are the base on which all other colours come from. When you mix two primary colours together, 50% of one primary colour and 50% of another primary colour you get a Secondary Colour (orange, violet, and green). A Tertiary Colour is created when you combine a primary colour with a secondary colour. This colour experience provides the opportunity to discover for yourself, the impact colours can have on your well-being. The need for a particular colour's vibration seems to differ from day to day. When you absorb a colour vibration it travels, via the nervous system, to the part of the body that needs it.

Jane Struthers wrote that we are all affected by the colours around us. We absorb the energy of each colour in our auras and through our skin. The energy of a particular colour is absorbed into our bodies, affecting all our cells, thus bringing about the healing process of the body.

The Science of Colour

Credits: Google Image
Many of us are unaware that we resonate to the vibrations emitted by the colors around us. Sir Isaac Newton divided the light spectrum into seven colours and theorized that light consist of waves, and each colour of the spectrum operates at a different wavelength. Albert Einstein also experimented and concluded that the colours of the spectrum consist of small parcels of energy known as photons. Photons travels in waves and in shorter wavelength, the photons are compressed and have more energy and higher frequency as compared with longer wavelength with lower frequency. His further experiments concluded that the theories of the Pythagoras and ancient Egyptians were partly correct where colours were used to aid the body healing process.

These ancient civilizations built healing rooms with coloured crystals and when the sun shone, the crystals refracted the Sun’s light on the patient. Even in the west, medieval architects of churches and cathedral built the churches ceiling with coloured crystals. As Sun light shone through them, the people would be bathed in the different energy of the different colors. Similarly in the East, the Indian practice, Ayurveda, an ancient form of medicine practiced for thousands of years, is based on the idea that every individual contains five elements of the universe, which include: earth, water, air, fire, and ether (space). These elements are present in specific proportions unique to each individual, including their personality type and constitution. When these elements are out of balance, Ayurveda works with the energies inherent in the colors of the spectrum to restore this balance.

Until today, the benefits of colour healing are still being recognised. Chromopaths, or more commonly known as colour healers are still very popular around the world. Interest in alternative remedies has also made Colour Therapy more popular and easily accepted. Most of them are inspired by Quantum Physicians Sir Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and Max Planck. The first colour wheel was invented by Sir Isaac Newton. He split white sunlight into red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, and blue. He then joined the two ends of the color spectrum together to show the natural progression of colours. He even went a step further and associated each colour with a musical note.

In my next article, I will explain how the Colour Chart can help with the healing process of the body and how Colours can have a profound effects on us at every level.

Laughter - The Best Medicine

Credit: Google Image

It has been observed that we are less likely to succumb to feelings of depression and helplessness if we laugh frequently. Laughter can foster a positive and hopeful attitude. Laughter also helps to release those uncomfortable emotions which may be harmful to the body. Results from studies have shown that the ability to appreciate the sense of humour can improve the mood disturbances in response to negative life events. These positive emotions can create neurochemical changes that reduce the side effects of stress and dis-eases.

Many studies have shown that laughing lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, increases muscle flexion, and boosts immune function by raising levels of infection-fighting T-cells. Laughter also triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, and produces a general sense of well-being. During laughter there is a general increase in activity within the immune system, including an increase in the number of activity level of natural killer cells that attack viral infected cells and some types of cancer and tumour cells.

Experts believed that laughter reduces at least four neuroendocrine hormones associated with stress response. These are epinephrine, cortisol and growth hormone. In addition, dopamine levels (as measured by dopac) were also decreased. Dopamine is associated with elevated blood pressure.

Frequent belly laughter empties your lungs of more air than it takes resulting in a cleansing effect – this is similar to deep breathing and is especially beneficial for patients who are suffering from emphysema and other respiratory ailments. Many experts also believed that a belly laugh is equivalent to "an internal jogging." Laughter can provide good cardiac conditioning especially for those who are unable to perform physical exercises.

With so many health benefits, many of us know that laughter is good for us. Laughter is one of the easiest ways to free yourself from the mind's constant thought process and find inner peace. It will make you more alive and more healthy. So try some laughter techniques, when you wake up in the morning, stretch your body and every muscle. After a few moments, start laughing. At the beginning you may have to force it a little, saying 'Ha, Ha, Ha,' or 'Ho, Ho, Ho' to get the laughter energy moving. Soon, a spontaneous laughter will arise at the sound of your attempts at laughing. Try it for five minutes. Just laugh for no reason at all. Laugh for the sake of laughing. Anyway, the biggest benefit of laughter is that it is free and has no known negative side effects. Happy laughing!!

Acupressure Therapy with Crystals

Acupressure is an ancient art of healing that uses our fingers to press on key healing points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's natural self-healing ability. When these points are pressed, they release muscular tension, enables deep relaxation, promote blood circulation and our body's life force to aid healing.

What is the Purpose of Acupressure?

The purpose of acupressure is to stimulate your body’s own recuperative powers by stimulating the various points on the body. The stimulation removes energy blockages by diffusing the toxic build up that accumulates in the muscle tissue. The accumulation of toxins causes stiffness throughout the body. Stiffness in muscles puts unnecessary pressure on blood and lymph vessels. The pressure on blood and lymph vessels affect both skeletal systems and internal organ functioning.

How is Acupressure Therapy with Crystals Performed?

Acupressure Therapy with Crystal is similar to traditional massage. Points on the body are massaged using a tumbled crystal, in a fairly rapid circular motion with medium pressure. Massages last between 5 and 15 minutes.

It is an effective method for self-treatment for tension-related ailments; this is further enhanced by the power of the crystals and the sensitivity of the human hand. The Acupressure Therapy with Crystals helps relief stress thus strengthening our immunity and promotes wellness for the body, mind and soul.

The Chinese have used acupressure points as a beauty treatment for thousands of years. Acupressure beauty treatments enhances the muscle tone of facial muscles and increases blood circulation, improving skin condition and the tone of facial muscles and connective tissue.

Simple pressure on the Heavenly Appearance points with a jade or Rose Quartz tumble, relieves congested areas and relaxes the muscles. Toxins are released and eliminated, which of course benefits our outward appearance. Acupressure Therapy with Crystals stimulates the flow of chi, which improves both how we feel as well as how we look.

We can also use Acupressure Therapy with Crystals to achieve some relief for:

  • Headaches - use Amethyst, Blue Lace agate, Rose Quartz on the neck region near the base of the skull.
  • Sinus problem - use Blue Lace Agate, Rose Quartz on side of the nose bridge
  • Menstrual cramps - use Carnelian or Moonstone on the navel
  • Lower back aches constipation, and indigestion - use Citrine on 4 finger spacing below the navel
  • Anxiety and to help you get a good night’s sleep - use Amethyst and Blue Lace Agate
  • Backache, neck pain, arthritis, muscle aches and Repetitive strain injuries i.e. carpal tunnel syndrome or frozen shoulder - use Black Obsidian and Rose Quartz or Howlite.

------------------------------

Crystal Rod Massager

When applying Acupressure Therapy with Crystals, work gently on the acupressure points on sensitive parts of the body, such as the face and abdomen, and on areas where there is very little cushioning between skin and bone, such as the top of the head. Do not apply after a full meal. Drink a glass of water before and after the therapy.

To apply the pressure, you can use any of your tumbled crystal depending on what is easiest and most comfortable for you. The general guideline is that pressure should be firm enough but yet not too painful. Too little pressure and it will not work while too much pressure can possibly cause damage, or in the least cause quite a bit of discomfort.

To relax an area or relieve pain, first press the points gently for 30 seconds. Increase the pressure until it’s quite firm, holding it for one to three minutes. Then release slowly and gently, again taking about 30 seconds to gradually come off the points.

When you’re working on acupressure points in a large muscle group, such as the muscles in your shoulders or calves, kneading is an excellent warm-up before using acupressure. Brisk rubbing in general helps to increase the blood flow also. You can use this technique to warm up your body if you’re feeling cold too.
